We’re coming to the tail-end of MIUI 12 rollout. At this point, a good number of eligible devices have bagged this update.

Recent reports indicated that Xiaomi was planning to wind up the rollout of MIUI 12 by the end of October.

In line with that, we’ve seen devices whose update had been pending for a while like the Redmi Note 9S getting updated.

A few other devices with pending updates were slated to get updated by October 20. These include the Global Redmi Note 9 Pro and the Redmi 9 (lancelot).

The Redmi Note 8, despite being in line for the same MIUI 12 update, hasn’t been updated. We have a post that details the journey to MIUI 12 for Redmi Note 8 and you can check it out here.

Last week, we got reports that it could be a month before the Redmi Note 8 gets updated. This news broke the hearts of users that were eagerly awaiting this update.

Today, thanks to a forum super moderator on a Redmi Note 8 MIUI 12 update thread for the Chinese variant, we get yet another hint towards this update.

When asked by a user when the Global variant of the Note 8 will bag the update to MIUI 12, the super mod tells the user to “check back in a few weeks time.”

Again, not exactly the news that Note 8 users are looking forward to, but it is something.

Bearing in mind that we still have a few weeks to the end of the month, could the Redmi Note 8 still be set to get updated to MIUI 12 this October? Well, that remains to be seen.

Luckily, since we’ve already seen the Chinese variant of the Redmi Note 8 bag this update, we know that the Global units will also get updated…eventually.

We shall continue to follow this story and update as soon as the MIUI 12 build rolls out to the said device. You might, therefore, want to keep an eye on our MIUI 12 tracker to be first to know when it drops.
