[Updated] Xiaomi Mi 9T MIUI 12 notification shade bug has been reported, fix expected in upcoming update

New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on August 05, 2020) follows:

The MIUI 12 update for the Xiaomi Mi 9T brings a bunch of new features and improvements over the previous MIUI 11 skin. This new update didn’t have a smooth rollout since it was paused for the Global, European, and Russian units due to some unknown issues.

Fortunately, Xiaomi seemed to have figured out the problem and re-released the MIUI 12 skin for the Global and European variants. Although, we aren’t yet sure when the update will be re-released for the Russian variants.

Nevertheless, while MIUI 12 does bring some improvements, it appears that the new update has brought a new bug on the Mi 9T. According to users, the notification shade or rather status bar displays black text even when dark mode is turned on.

Naturally, the lack of contrast between the translucent yet dark status bar and black text makes it hard to see any information. A Mi 9T user has also shared a screenshot of the bug that you can see below to get a better idea:

As you can see from the screenshot, the text isn’t eligible easily. Fortunately, a moderator has responded to the user’s complaint on the Mi Community. Here’s what the mod had to say about the issue:

      Hey,
This issue has been reported, Hope will be fixed in upcoming update

Based on the moderator’s response to the issue, users can expect to see a fix for the problem arrive along with the next update. Until then, users might have to toggle off the dark mode. Bugs often pop-up with new software updates, but are fixed with subsequent patches.

Hopefully, Mi 9T users won’t have to wait too long for the notification shade/status bar bug to be fixed with the next MIUI 12-based patch. As usual, we will continue to track the issue and will post an update once new information is shared.

We have also curated a list of all the known Global MIUI 12 bugs that you can see here. Further, you can check out our MIUI 12 update tracker to know when it arrives on your device.

      Update 1 (November 03)

Apparently, the latest MIUI 12 beta 20.11.3 update brings a fix for the ‘notification management’. Therefore, it’s possible that the notification shade bug on the Mi 9T may have been addressed. Although, it’s unclear when the fix will be available via a stable update.

We’ve shared the changelog for the MIUI 12 beta version 20.11.3 below:
