Original story (published on August 04, 2020) follows:

OnePlus is known for its dedication to provide device owners with timely updates on the regular. OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro, for instance, are among the few non-Google devices currently trialing Android 11 developer preview.

The duo bagged the OxygenOS 11 update a few weeks ago and as the name suggests, this version is not meant for general users, but it comes in handy for developers of apps that run on OnePlus devices.

This way, devs can prepare their apps in advance to be compatible with the new OS such that when the public version arrives, there are no major app compatibility issues. As it stands, OnePlus seems confident that devs have done their part and soon the OxygenOS 11 update will go public.

According to a post published in the OnePlus community by CEO Pete Lau, OnePlus says those testing the developer preview version of OxygenOS 11 will get their final build on August 10. Soon after the company irons out all major bugs, the software will be pushed to the Open Beta channel.

Today, I wanted to drop you a note to let you know about some exciting developments with OxygenOS. On August 10, we’ll be releasing the final developer’s preview build of OxygenOS 11 to give a small group of our most technically-inclined community members a chance to start testing out some of the new features and share feedback with our team. Then once we’ve squashed most of the big bugs and improved overall stability, we’ll release a full open beta to let even more of you try it out.

Since then, it's been a parade of Android devices (with a sprinkle of iOS), culminating in a mostly happy marriage with Google's smart home ecosystem. Expect insightful articles and explorations of the ever-evolving world of Android and Google products coupled with occasional rants on the Nest smart home ecosystem.
