Original story (pubished on Feb 21) follows:

Less than a month after the stable Android 10 update went live for the Google Pixels, Huawei opened the beta registration into EMUI 10 based on Android 10 for 2017’s Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro back in China.

The Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro EMUI 10 public beta update arrived in mid-November 2019, just in time for the stable P30 and Mate 20 EMUI 10 update.

A month later, the stable update started rolling out in batches, with the first batch receiving the OS in mid-December 2019. The Mate 10 duo wasn’t the only one to pick up the stable EMUI 10 update on this day.

Many others did get it too, including Huawei P20, Huawei P20 Pro, and the Mate RS Porsche Design, Nova 4e/P30 Lite, Huawei Enjoy 10 Plus/Y9 Prime 2019, Enjoy 9s/P Smart 2019, Huawei Maimang 8/P Smart+ 2019, Maimang 7/Mate 20 Lite, Honor 20i, and Honor 10 Youth Edition/Honor 10 Lite.

The wider rollout of the OS, at least for the Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro, had to wait until early January 2020. But again, this was limited to the Chinese market, just like the initial batch and the beta program before it.

Typically, EMUI updates start rolling out globally a couple or so weeks after China. With nearly two months gone by since the wider rollout in China, concerns about the Mate 10 Pro EMUI 10 update are creeping in and Huawei Germany has and continues to address them.

Responding to multiple owners of the device on Twitter, Huawei Germany says the Mate 10 Pro Android 10 update arrives next month. When it starts rolling out, it will bring along new security patches, although unlikely to be March 2020.

Below are more responses by Huawei Germany regarding the Mate 10 Pro Android 10 update (translated from German via Google Translate):

Hey BizzaroWorld, please do not believe in what is online. For the Mate 10 Pro, the update to Android 10 will also be rolled out, so you can expect that in March. Best regards, Tolga from HUAWEI Mobile.

Hello Kürsat, the Android 10 is also provided for the Mate10 Pro, which is already provided with the latest available security patch. The update will be rolled out around March. Please be patient a little longer. Best regards, Ahmed from HUAWEI Mobile.

Hello Rathos, I can fully understand your agitation, but I can definitely tell you that the device is intended for Android 10. The update is planned for around March, so it won’t take long. Best regards, Tolga from HUAWEI Mobile

So, as you can see, Android 10 should be expected on the Mate 10 duo this coming month. As for the security patches, you can still expect them to come your way on a monthly basis, at least if what the company says is anything to go by.

Tech has been my playground for over a decade. While the Android journey began early, it truly took flight with the revolutionary Lollipop update. Since then, it's been a parade of Android devices (with a sprinkle of iOS), culminating in a mostly happy marriage with Google's smart home ecosystem. Expect insightful articles and explorations of the ever-evolving world of Android and Google products coupled with occasional rants on the Nest smart home ecosystem.
