[Updated] New Asus ZenFone 5 Android 10 developer preview (AOSP) beta update released (Download link inside)

This story is being continuously updated…. New updates are being added at the bottom…..

Original story (published on May 14) follows:

Asus isn’t done with updating its devices to Android 10 yet despite ongoing Android 11 developments. A journey that started back in early November 2019 with the ZenFone 6 aka Asus 6z is now approaching the end with only a handful of eligible devices remaining.

Among these few Asus devices is the ZenFone 5, which picked up its Android 10 beta update, famously known as developer preview (AOSP version), a little over a month ago.

The update, which wasn’t available over the air, arrived as software version 17.0615.2003.20, tagging along features such as Android 10 Dark Theme, “Suggested actions and replies” in notifications’ advanced setting, Adaptive brightness, Adaptive Battery, etc.

Apparently, Asus released a new ZenFone 5 Android 10 update to the developer preview channel, presumably beta 2, earlier this month. The update has firmware version 17.0615.2003.22, a small jump from the previous build .20.

For some reason, though, Asus says ZenFone 5 owners who wish to switch to the latest Android 10 build should first make sure they have firmware version 16.0615.2002.120 installed, which is based on Pie. Interestingly, this build came out in February.

The latest Pie-based firmware is version 16.0615.2004.126. It was released about three weeks ago. So, where does this leave those on the initial Android 10 build? Well, since installation is manual, it shouldn’t be a problem installing the new build .22.

      Below is the latest changelog:

      1. Fixed the issue where microphone is not working while ‘OK Google’ is active.
      2. Fixed OIS-functionality in Camera not working as expected
      3. Corrected translations for certain parts in the Camera settings
      4. Fixed the issue where the screen could unintentionally turns on
      Source

As noted, installing the ZenFone 5 Android 10 update is done manually. That said, you’ll need to download the update package below in order to make the switch, but be careful not to mess up things. If you don’t like the new OS, you can switch back to Pie.
