OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro might only be a couple or so weeks old, but the duo is already receiving a new software update with plenty of optimizations and some new features as well.

The standard OnePlus 8 is receiving the update depending on the model number in question. Folks using the Indian model are receiving the new OTA as OxygenOS 10.5.4.IN21DA while those in the EU region should get it as OxygenOS 10.5.3.IN21BA.

For those using the North American variant, the update should arrive your way as OxygenOS 10.5.4.IN21AA. Matter of fact, we already reported about the latter update in North America, including the Pro variant.

The update added support for Live Caption, double-tap to wake feature, camera optimizations, improved fingerprint unlock and the March security patch, among other stuff.

As far as the latest installation is concerned, folks in Greece using OnePlus 8 on Vodafone can now enjoy VoWiFi calling support after this update. The same package also optimizes display effects, improves camera and network connectivity, and more. Below is the changelog:

Camera
– Improved accuracy of white balance and focus in a dark environment

As far as the OnePlus 8 Pro is concerned, those in India are receiving the update to OxygenOS 10.5.5.IN11DA while Europe is on OxygenOS 10.5.5.IN11BA. If you have the North American variant, watch out for an update to OxygenOS 10.5.5.IN11AA.

On top of what OnePlus 8 users get, the Pro variant also gets improved video smoothness in Motion graphics smoothing and simplified interaction experience for Bedtime mode. Below is the full changelog:

As always with OTA updates, only a small percentage of OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro handsets will get the update today. The rest will get it in the coming days as part of the broader rollout, so stay patient.

OnePlus 8 Pro units are experiencing a green tint issue and while the company has promised to fix the bug via a software update, it doesn’t look like the incoming OTA is the one to address the issue. It’s also unlikely that this update enables dual-SIM (5G/5G) support as promised.

Tech has been my playground for over a decade. While the Android journey began early, it truly took flight with the revolutionary Lollipop update. Since then, it's been a parade of Android devices (with a sprinkle of iOS), culminating in a mostly happy marriage with Google's smart home ecosystem. Expect insightful articles and explorations of the ever-evolving world of Android and Google products coupled with occasional rants on the Nest smart home ecosystem.
