Chinese smartphone manufacturer, Oppo, has been quite consistent with its release of VoWiFi (WiFi calling) updates for its smartphones. As of now, the likes of Oppo F9, F9 Pro and Oppo Reno 2Z already have this feature.

Furthermore, this functionality has also been confirmed  Reno 10x Zoom, Oppo K3, and Oppo F11 Pro. If Oppo continues like this, we expect more Oppo smartphones to receive WiFi calling soon.

For those who may be wondering, VoWiFi (WiFi calling) makes use of your WiFi connection for calls instead of the regular mobile network. Obviously, this automatic switch is possible if a WiFi connection is available. It generally improves call quality.

Both Oppo A9 and A9 2020 are slated to receive ColorOS 7 update

Since the official launch of VoWiFi in India by Jio and Airtel, there has been a huge demand by users of various OEMs. Good for Oppo users, the manufacturer takes the user demand for VoWiFi (WiFi calling) feature seriously.

Now, official information from Oppo customer care shows that OPPO A5 2020 and A9 2020 will be getting the VoWiFi feature. Unfortunately, the company did not say when this update will arrive. However, it will announce its arrival via any of its social media channels.

Answering a query by an Oppo user, the official Twitter handle of Oppo Customer Care replied:

…we’d like to inform you that our team is working on bringing the VoWiFi feature in OPPO A5 2020 and A9 2020.

With this latest information, it is now confirmed that the VoWiFi feature is definitely coming for the OPPO A5 2020 and A9 2020 via a future update. We expect this update to arrive with a security patch. Do well to keep a tab with us because we will let you know when that happens.

Like we said earlier, Oppo is quite honest and regular with an update release for its smartphones. The company does not only release regular monthly security patch updates and Android system upgrades, it sometimes rolls out minor updates to fix specific issues.

Both Oppo A5 2020 and Oppo A9 2020 were released with Android 9 Pie out-of-the-box in September 2019 and are already scheduled to receive the ColorOS 7 with Android 10.
