This story is being continuously updated…. New updates are being added at the bottom…..
Original story (published on April 1) follows:
VoWiFi or WiFi calling has seen a huge demand by the users of various OEMs since its launch by two major network providers in India, Jio and Airtel.
Several OEMs have already pushed the VoWiFi feature support for their handsets, and now the Huawei and Honor phones are also slowly joining the bandwagon.
Back in February, it was reported that the VoWiFi or WiFi calling feature is still under development for all its eligible phones. However, later the Chinese smartphone brand started rolling out the updates with VoWiFi feature for its phones and till now, Honor 8X, Honor 9X, Honor 10 Lite, has already picked up VoWiFi feature update.
Moreover, the Honor Play is expected to join this list in the second week of April. While the users of Honor Play wait, Honor 20i is reportedly getting served with the WiFi calling feature along with the February 2020 security patchset.
The update is quite hefty in size and weighs in around 0.93 GB. The OTA for the Honor 20i carries the version number EMUI 10.0.0177. Below is the complete changelog of the update:
– This update enables VoWiFi features, and also includes Android patches for improved system security.
– Enables the VoWiFi features for a better voice and video call experience with certain carriers.
– Integrates Android security patches released in February 2020 for improved system security.
This new Honor 20i VoWiFi update is rolling out via OTA in batches, meaning that it will take some time before it arrives on all the units. For those who have not received the notification as of yet, can head over to Settings to check for it manually.
If there is a new Honor 20i VoWiFi update notification, then tap on it to install. It is good to see that a young brand like Honor is also joining the list alongside major OEMs like OnePlus, Realme, Nokia, Xiaomi, and many others that are extending VoWiFi support for their devices.
