Original story (published on March 17) follows:

Realme X2 and Realme X2 Pro are gearing up for their stable updates to Realme UI 1.0 based on Android 10 OS this month.

The duo has been testing the new software in both China and India, but there has been some lack of clarity on what exactly Realme is doing with the testing program, especially in the latter market.

Last month, select Realme X2 owners in India picked up a beta update to Realme UI based on Android 10. This group went on to get a second update early this month and not long ago, the third Realme X2 Realme UI beta update went live, tagging along March security patch.

Somewhere in-between the Realme X2 Android 10 beta updates, Realme launched what it calls the Realme UI Early Access program for not only the X2, but also the Pro variant.

Not long after, those who enrolled their Realme X2 Pro units into the Early Access program received their Realme UI beta update, what the company called an almost ready version of the software. However, only 3,000 units of each device were allowed to join.

A few days later, Realme went ahead and opened another Realme UI beta testing program, this time the Open Beta, for the Realme X2 Pro. The company noted that those in the Early Access program don’t need to join the Open Beta, instead, they simply wait for the stable version.

Now, in a similar move, owners of the Realme X2 who did not enroll in the Early Access program can now register to get the Realme UI Open Beta version on their units ahead of the official rollout.

As it stands, it seems the 3,000 cap is no more, but Realme doesn’t say if everyone can join the beta program (technically impossible, though, but it’s worth mentioning), so be sure to try your luck as fast as possible in order to get the nod.

You must be on version RMX1992EX_11_A.19 in order to get the said Realme X2 Realme UI open beta update. The same registration process used for Realme X2 Pro Android 10 beta is also applicable in this case. You can check it out here.

Tech has been my playground for over a decade. While the Android journey began early, it truly took flight with the revolutionary Lollipop update. Since then, it's been a parade of Android devices (with a sprinkle of iOS), culminating in a mostly happy marriage with Google's smart home ecosystem. Expect insightful articles and explorations of the ever-evolving world of Android and Google products coupled with occasional rants on the Nest smart home ecosystem.
