New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on March 06, 2020) follows:

A little over a month ago, Asus hinted at a potential delay in rolling out the stable ROG Phone 2 Android 10 update. At the time, the company said it had encountered new bugs in the beta firmware that needed more time to fix.

A couple of weeks later, things appeared to have taken a fresh turn, with suggestions that the OS was so close to rolling out, but no date was given.

Shortly after, Asus released Android 10 beta 7 and a week later beta 8 was also released. The two updates had a nearly identical changelog, but it is the brief changelog that got some thinking this was probably the last beta update the ROG Phone II gets.

Nope! That’s not the case. As I write this, Asus is rolling out yet another ROG Phone 2 Android 10 beta update, the ninth version. Unlike the previous couple of betas, this one has more bug fixes and optimizations to it.

Notably, the issue where the device would automatically reboot while unlocking it using the fingerprint scanner has now been addressed. The update also fixes FOD icon issue on 3rd party apps and video recording failing when using Type-C earphones.

Below is a summary of the changes the update brings:

1.Improved system stability.
2.Improved accessories stability.
3.Fixed auto reboot issue while unlocking phone by fingerprint..
4.Updated Android security patch.
5.Fixed no sound evvect on charging.
6.Optimized power consumption.
7.Fixed FOD icon issue on 3rd party app.
8.Fixed video recording fail when connecting with type-c earphone.

Tech has been my playground for over a decade. While the Android journey began early, it truly took flight with the revolutionary Lollipop update. Since then, it's been a parade of Android devices (with a sprinkle of iOS), culminating in a mostly happy marriage with Google's smart home ecosystem. Expect insightful articles and explorations of the ever-evolving world of Android and Google products coupled with occasional rants on the Nest smart home ecosystem.
