Original story (published on February 21, 2020) follows:

A month ago, the Poco F1/Pocophone F1 Android 10 update was made available to select users. This came after what many felt was a longer-than-expected wait for the update to arrive.

A little over a week later, the wider rollout of the software started, with more people in various markets reporting to have received the OTA download notification. Indeed a moment of joy, but as it turned out, not everyone picked up the update.

Reason why? The rollout was being executed in batches, as usual. This meant that some people got it ahead of others, but even so, nearly three weeks down the line, the Pocophone F1 Android 10 update is still a distant dream for some.

When asked about it, Poco India General Manager recently revealed that the team was working on the rollout, requesting Poco F1 owners to stay a little more patient.

As you can see from his tweet, the GM was keen not to go into details of what exactly the team was working on. But the guy behind the Poco India Twitter handle couldn’t hold onto that any longer.

When requested to serve the Poco F1 with an update to the new OS, Poco India responded by saying the update rollout had been paused due to some bug. Unfortunately, the specific bug wasn’t mentioned, but at least now we know why some people haven’t received Android 10 on their units.

The rollout should resume when the bug is fixed. When exactly? No one knows. Until then, you can try the unofficial Android 10 update on your Poco F1 device via LineageOS 17.1.

The update to Android 10 will be the last major OS upgrade for the Pocophone F1. However, the company will continue pushing security updates to the device, although at what frequency no one knows.

Tech has been my playground for over a decade. While the Android journey began early, it truly took flight with the revolutionary Lollipop update. Since then, it's been a parade of Android devices (with a sprinkle of iOS), culminating in a mostly happy marriage with Google's smart home ecosystem. Expect insightful articles and explorations of the ever-evolving world of Android and Google products coupled with occasional rants on the Nest smart home ecosystem.
