New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on December 17, 2019) follows:

Samsung Galaxy A50 was the first device to receive the December security update, beating even the likes of Google Pixels and even the growing list of Android One devices out there.

By now, you know a thing or two about how Samsung rolls out its software updates. For those in the dark, the rollout process happens gradually and region-wise, meaning some units in certain markets receive updates ahead of others.

This is why the initial Galaxy A50 December update only targeted those in Europe, Israel to be specific. But as from today, folks in India can also join the party by switching to the latest security patch level.

The Galaxy A50 December update is arriving in India as software version A505FDDU3ASL5 and weighs in at a sizeable 640MB. Granted, you are getting more than just a mere security patch from this update.

On top of the mentioned improvements to the camera stability and Wi-Fi connectivity, this update was expected to address the annoying fingerprint issue the device has been experiencing for quite some time now, but it didn’t.

It’s worth noting that last month’s update also arrived with some improvements to the fingerprint scanner, but even after the latest arrival, Galaxy A50 owners are still seeing the same bug that breaks the fingerprint registration process.

When registering a fingerprint, the device returns the error message “Make sure the fingerprint sensor is clean and dry, then try again” after hitting 45% success or thereabout.

Hi after updating latest version I am getting the below said error repetedly and i could not able to add my fingerprint, pls help. Error: “Make sure your finger covers entire sensor.” Phone model: SM-A505F, samsung.

When the first Galaxy A50 December update went live, SamMobile reported that the fingerprint issue had been addressed. But going by the latest developments, Samsung still has a job to do in order to fix this annoying bug, hopefully in the next update.

Update (February 13, 2020)

Even even after the January security update, the fingerprint issues didn’t disappear. But it seems they are growing worse each passing day. Apparently, some people even say the fingerprint scanner graphics disappeared from the screen.

When fingerprint Problem for Samsung A50 will be solved ? After January security patch ? or after release of One UI 2.0 ? or never ? Visited more than 10 times to Samsung service station,. But still result is a big “ZERO”, 5 times they reinstalled software, removed tempered glass, everyone. Washed fingers with not only soap bur with alcohol, petrol, toluene etc. THE RESULT IS ZERO.

It’s still unclear if the latest Galaxy A50 February security update did address some of these issues, but do make sure to download it if not already and let us know your experience after the update.

Since then, it's been a parade of Android devices (with a sprinkle of iOS), culminating in a mostly happy marriage with Google's smart home ecosystem.
