New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on February 1, 2020) follows:

POCO recently went fully independent of Xiaomi and the first device in the new era is the Poco X2, confirmed to arrive on Tuesday next week, February 4.

PiunikaWeb readers will know about the Poco X2 from our coverage mid last month. At the time, it seemed like another of those fake Geekbench listings, but it has turned out to be a real thing.

For the uninitiated, Geekbench listed an unknown Poco X2 device that had internal similarities with the Redmi K30. The name later appeared in an official video teaser by the company, adding more weight to previous developments.

It didn’t take long for hands-on images to show up online, revealing even more similarities with the Redmi K30. A few days ago, Poco indeed announced that the X2 will be unveiled this month.

Since then, its been leak after leak and in the latest leak, we have even more evidence that the Poco X2 will be a rebranded Redmi K30. Not that we doubted it, but this time, there is no reason to whatsoever.

The image above was shared by a Telegram user (Andrei) with the caption “Someone from my country has brought redmi k30 and when he put Google account and all of the stuffs joy surprise”

Apparently, someone purchased a Redmi K30 unit but it booted as a Poco X2 after the usual setup. Do we need any more evidence that the X2 will be a rebranded K30? Unless Andrei has other motives, we don’t!

Still, we can’t take Andrei’s word for final, but with only a couple of days between now and the launch date, we should find out soon.

Update (February 4, 2020)
