New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on February 03, 2020) follows:

Xiaomi in late 2019 released three budget phones namely Redmi Note 8, Redmi Note 8T and Redmi Note 8 Pro. The former two are like identical twins while the latter is their bigger sibling.

Despite arriving at a time when Android 10 was already available, none of these three has the new OS out of the box. But about a month ago, the Redmi Note 8 Pro Android 10 update was spotted in China, suggesting that the global rollout was imminent.

Xiaomi fans will know a thing or two about how the company handles software updates. For the uninitiated, new updates are usually released in China first and a week or two later, the global rollout begins. This hasn’t been the case for the Note 8 Pro Android 10 update.

As noted, it’s close to a month since the first stable firmware was spotted in China. Naturally, at least one global variant should have received a similar update by now, instead, owners of the device find themselves in the Mi forums asking questions about the update’s status.

As you can see from the screengrab above, a member of the MIUI support team says there is no information available regarding the Redmi Note 8 Pro Android 10 update. When faced with the same question, an MIUI forum moderator also says this information is not available for now.

These are the guys who are always quick to excite fans with information that is sometimes inaccurate. That they don’t have any information on the availability of the Note 8 Pro Android 10 update is quite interesting or rather unusual.

Either way, it is what it is and given Xiaomi scrapped the Global MIUI Beta program, there is no way to tell what’s going on with respect to the next MIUI update for the Note 8 Pro.

Whether the multiple reports late last year about the device bricking have anything to do with the lack of progress on the update to Android 10 is also hard to tell. But either way, we hope some official info comes out soon, at least to calm down some of our readers.

We will let you know in case something pops up. Stay tuned to PiunikaWeb.

Since then, it's been a parade of Android devices (with a sprinkle of iOS), culminating in a mostly happy marriage with Google's smart home ecosystem. Expect insightful articles and explorations of the ever-evolving world of Android and Google products coupled with occasional rants on the Nest smart home ecosystem.
