Realme XT WiFi calling (VoWiFi) support arrives, but there is a catch!

Realme XT WiFi calling (VoWiFi) support arrives, but there is a catch!

Ever since VoWiFi calling became a buzzword, none of Realme’s smartphones has been officially listed by Airtel and Reliance Jio as supported devices, but the company promised to enable this functionality in the future.

Matter of fact, the OPPO subsidiary has already provided us with a timeline of when to expect VoWiFi calling support to arrive on various Realme smartphones beginning this month.

As expected, the flagship Realme X2 Pro leads the way followed by Realme X2, Realme XT, Realme X, Realme 5 Pro, Realme 3 Pro, Realme 5, Realme 5i, and Realme 5s in February.

      Realme X2 Pro

In March, the feature will arrive on the Realme C2, Realme 2, Realme C1, Realme 1, Realme U1, Realme 2 Pro, Realme 3, and Realme 3i. Of course, these dates are always subject to change.

Speaking of which, it seems the company accidentally included VoWiFi calling support in a recent Realme XT update, only that the wrong firmware was targeted. Yeah, that’s the catch!

The Realme XT Realme UI 1.0 update based on Android 10 started rolling out a while ago. There have been reports of possible postponement of the rollout due to technical reasons, but it seems others are receiving the OTA.

Latest Realme XT Android 10 update has no VoWiFi calling support

Apparently, unlike the most recent Android Pie-based build A.16 that rolled out to the Realme XT tagging along January 2020 security patch, the new C.01 build that brings Realme UI 1.0 based on Android 10 doesn’t include VoWiFi calling support.

A few of those who had picked up the A.16 build say they were able to use VoWiFi calling feature on Airtel but not on Jio. But after updating to Android 10, the feature is no more.

On my RealmeXT yesterday, I’ve downloaded A.16 update manually, in which I was able to use wifi calling on @airtelindia. But after receiving RealmeUI update this function has gone away. Please fix the issue ASAP.

Finally today I got realme UI update for my realme XT, but the icons are bigger in size, no wide angle in 4k, no bokeh in video mode,no airtel vowifi call feature.

It’s worth noting that the Pie-based A.16 build didn’t roll out over the air, but it can be downloaded manually from the official Realme servers. So, if you want to give VoWiFi calling a try on your Realme XT, you may want to grab the firmware below and install it manually.

      • Device: Realme XT
      • Codename: RMX1921
      • Channel: India Stable
      • Version: A.16
      • Android: 9
        • Type: Recovery

The catch, once again, is that the wrong firmware is supported. That is, if you want VoWiFi calling support on your Realme XT, no Realme UI (Android 10) for you and vice versa is also true.
