Realme X December security update rolling out ahead of ColorOS 7/Android 10 (Download link inside)

Initially started as a subsidiary of OPPO, Realme is a rather endeared brand nowadays in many markets. The Chinese OEM broke many contemporary barriers, and introduced premium features in the budget category. Take the example of the popup camera on Realme X.

Available in both India and China, the device sports a huge 6.53″ AMOLED display, Snapdragon 710 chipset, a reasonably sized 3,765 mAh battery and internal storage options up to 256 GB. Indeed some beefy specs out there.

But a device is only as good as its software experience and Realme knows this. The company has invested in pushing out regular security patches, bug fixes and general software updates to its devices and Realme X is no different.

The company is currently rolling out the December security patch for the Indian variant of the phone. This comes almost a week after the Chinese variant of the same received the December patch.

With this update, the software version on this device is bumped up from A.10 (November build) to A.11. Apart from a new security patch, the OTA doesn’t bring much in terms of features. However, the note says that there are some “partial bug fixes’ bundled within this update.

Below is the complete changelog of this build:

      Security

      – Android security patch: December, 2019

      Known issue fixed

      – Fixed partial known issue, improved system stability.

The typical OTA update model is known for staged rollout, so the new build is not going to be available to all devices at once. To that effect, Realme says:

In order to ensure the stability of this OTA, it will have a staged rollout. The OTA will be randomly pushed out to a limited number of users today and will have a broader rollout in a few days after making sure there are no critical bugs. If no critical bugs are found, the full rollout will be completed in the upcoming days.

However, if you are not the patient type, below is the download link for you. You can download the package and flash it manually using the stock recovery. Just make sure that the (o)zip is for your exact model; otherwise you might end up ruining your device.

Realme X is scheduled to get Android 10 in the form of Realme UI in February 2020. Matter of fact, the OEM kickstarted a beta recruitment for the same in China a few days ago.
