Realme X and Realme X2 are the latest from the OPPO subsidiary to receive new software updates with the most up to date December security patches.

Late last month, the global Realme X received an update that fixed the WhatsApp dark mode readability bug. This was the November security patch, which rolled out as version A.10.

As usual, though, the incoming Realme X December update is first targeting the Chinese market before moving on to other regions where the device is also available.

The new update is rolling out as software version A.22 and besides installing the updated security patch, you also get Realme community applications on the home screen.

FYI, Realme X owners in China have already been invited to submit their interest to try ColorOS 7 beta update based on Android 10, but folks in India are still waiting for their turn.

As far as the Realme X2 is concerned, the new December security update is arriving as software version A.13 and like the standard Realme X, you need to have the Chinese model in order to receive this new OTA.

The Realme X2 was expected to arrive in India as Realme XT 730G, but this isn’t the case. Picking up from where the November patch left off, the incoming Realme X2 update does more than install the latest December security patch, as seen in the changelog below.

For now, we don’t have the download links for either update, so the only way to get it is waiting for the OTA download notification. It could take several days before it arrives, so stay patient.

Also, those using these same devices in regions outside China should expect a similar update in the coming days, probably before the weekend is here.

Since then, it's been a parade of Android devices (with a sprinkle of iOS), culminating in a mostly happy marriage with Google's smart home ecosystem. Expect insightful articles and explorations of the ever-evolving world of Android and Google products coupled with occasional rants on the Nest smart home ecosystem.
