OnePlus 7T picked up its first software update last month that came with improvements to the display screen, camera as well as sound effects during calls.

Several other updates have followed, with the most recent tagging along October security patches for not only the unlocked model, but also the T-Mobile variant.

Today, there is a new software update available for not just the standard OnePlus 7T, but also the Pro variant. The former update is arriving as OxygenOS 10.0.6 based on Android 10, the OS that powers the phone out of the box.

OnePlus 7T owners who already picked up their October patches would want to believe this update has the latest November patch, but no, it only brings a bunch of bug fixes and performance optimizations as shared below.

Optimized standby power consumption
Improved system stability and general bug fixes
Optimized the Bluetooth connectivity in automobiles
Optimized the expanded screenshot feature

The OTA update weighs in at 75MB, which is what you’d expect from a software update that doesn’t have any new features to brag about.

The OnePlus 7T Pro update, on the other hand, has more than what the standard 7T is receiving. In addition to bringing a share of its own bug fixes and performance optimizations, the update also bumps the security patch level to October 2019. Below is the full changelog:

Optimized standby power consumption
Improved system stability and general bug fixes
Updated Android security patch to 2019.10
Fixed the black bar issue while charging or playing a video
Optimized the Bluetooth connectivity in automobiles
Optimized the expanded screenshot feature

Again, this isn’t the latest security patch available, but since the 7T and 7T Pro are still quite new on the market, we expect that OnePlus will catch up sooner than later.

Owners of the 7T Pro should watch out for a software update arriving as OxygenOS 10.0.4 and weighs in at 166MB, which is more than twice the size of the 7T’s update.

Tech has been my playground for over a decade. While the Android journey began early, it truly took flight with the revolutionary Lollipop update. Since then, it's been a parade of Android devices (with a sprinkle of iOS), culminating in a mostly happy marriage with Google's smart home ecosystem. Expect insightful articles and explorations of the ever-evolving world of Android and Google products coupled with occasional rants on the Nest smart home ecosystem.
