Xiaomi has been busy lately rolling out both MIUI 11 stable updates as well as new OS upgrades to Android 10. Several devices have so far received both updates, but some are only getting the former update with the base OS remaining unchanged.

For the uninitiated, Xiaomi treats MIUI and Android OS updates separately, but at times, the two can be delivered simultaneously. While the latter case is what is happening for Mi 9 and Mi 9T Pro users in Europe, those using the Mi 9 SE in the same region will have to make do with an older OS.

The stable MIUI 11 update is arriving on the Mi 9 as MIUI 11.0.5.0.QFAEUXM and weighs in at 2.3GB. The huge file size is because the update also bumps the underlying OS to the latest and greatest from Google, Android 10.

As for the Mi 9T Pro, the MIUI 11 update is arriving as V11.0.3.0.QFKEUXM and has the same size of 2.3GB thanks to the bundled Android 10 OS. Interestingly, the global Mi 9T Pro recently received its October security patch sans MIUI 11 and Android 10.

A few days ago, the global variant of the Mi 9 did receive its MIUI 11 update that also introduced the latest Android 10 OS. The changelog remains the same, including an updated security patch level for the month of October 2019.

Below is a summary of the changelog of the incoming MIUI 11 update for the Mi 9 and Mi 9T Pro as provided by Xiaomi:

Other than the OS, the Mi 9 SE MIUI 11 update changelog is the same as the Mi 9 and Mi 9T Pro changes shared above. FYI, the global Mi 9 SE already got its MIUI 11 update a few days ago, so the European model is just playing catchup.

If you can’t wait for the OTA update to arrive, we do have the links to download the respective ROMs for manual installation, but be sure you know your way around this.

Tech has been my playground for over a decade. While the Android journey began early, it truly took flight with the revolutionary Lollipop update. Since then, it's been a parade of Android devices (with a sprinkle of iOS), culminating in a mostly happy marriage with Google's smart home ecosystem. Expect insightful articles and explorations of the ever-evolving world of Android and Google products coupled with occasional rants on the Nest smart home ecosystem.
