OnePlus is known to cut a few corners here and there in order to hit the right spot as far as the pricing of its phones is concerned.

OnePlus 7T, for instance, skipped IP6X rating, QHD screen resolution, microSD card storage, 3.5mm audio jack, ultrasonic under-display fingerprint scanner (in favor of optical), wireless charging, reverse wireless charging, and so on just so as to keep the price at $600.

Undoubtedly, the 7T is more than a perfect device, but not without its flaws. Not long ago, we reported about the display tint issue on some units and today, we have more issues popping up via various forums.

Apparently, several OnePlus 7T users are reporting that the ambient display isn’t working on the device. Some say they are on OxygenOS 10.0.3 while others are on v10.0.4, so it’s hard to tell if its an issue from a recent software update.

I got the phone today and it worked fine, then got slightly less responsive, and now it doesn’t work at all anymore. The screen-off gestures were broken too for a couple of minutes but they work perfectly again, but ambient display doesn’t work with either single tap or picking it up.

I installed a tempered glass screen protector on my op7T and suddenly the ambient display doesn’t work anymore. Neither the pick up phone to show, or tap screen to show turns on the ambient display. Are there any fixes to this or is this just a tempered glass screen protector issue? I’m, on Oxygen OS 10.0.4.

Whether it’s using the tap to wake option or even picking up the phone, it seems OnePlus 7T ambient display is broken for many out there.

To recall, OnePlus 7 Pro users also had similar issues back in May and the company did confirm a bug-fixing update would be released after. Granted, we should see a similar update addressing the OnePlus 7T ambient display issue in the coming days.

It’s also worth noting that some Google Pixel users have also had a horrid time with ambient display on Android 10. Unlike Google, though, we hope that the latest ambient display issues on the OnePlus 7T will be fixed soon.
