Xiaomi/Redmi is fond of releasing multiple variations of the same phones it sells in various markets across the globe. Some remain in China while others find their way to the global markets bearing the same names or different ones altogether.

Such is the case for the Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro. These are two variants of the Note 8, with the Pro model standing in as the superior offering. The series, if you like, also has the likes of Redmi 8 and Redmi 8A.

Since their arrival, the Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro having been unveiled in several markets outside China, but models sold in the latter market have received more software updates than any other.

This is set to continue for the Redmi Note 8 Pro in China with the arriving MIUI 10.4.11.0.PGGCNXM update. Given that the most recent update carried MIUI 10.4.10, the small change in the version number suggests there shouldn’t be massive changes under the hood.

For whatever reason, Xiaomi has included the same changelog as the previous version in the newest MIUI 10.4.11 OTA. It weighs 177MB.

Tech has been my playground for over a decade. While the Android journey began early, it truly took flight with the revolutionary Lollipop update. Since then, it's been a parade of Android devices (with a sprinkle of iOS), culminating in a mostly happy marriage with Google's smart home ecosystem. Expect insightful articles and explorations of the ever-evolving world of Android and Google products coupled with occasional rants on the Nest smart home ecosystem.
