The customers know the significance of security patches now. Gone are the days they always expected new features to accompany OTA overhauls. With the safety threats on the rising side, manufacturers try to stick to monthly updates for protecting their devices.

And, people got used to it. They even start to complain if a brand delays a patch or doesn’t release it at all. In case you are naive, Google publishes security vulnerabilities in the first week of every month on Android Security Bulletin. OEMs release updates after fixing them.

Android Security Bulletin

We suppose you know the difference between a major Android update and a security patch. While the former revamps the whole platform (Oreo to Pie for example), the latter only modifies the safety measures. An ideal Android smartphone should get security overhauls every month.

The month, September is about to end. Of course, there are myriads of devices that didn’t receive the latest patch. However, Xiaomi’s Mi Mix 3 5G, Redmi 7A, and Note 8 Pro users don’t have to whine about it anymore.

Xiaomi Mi Mix 3

Mi Mix series is Xiaomi’s flag-bearer of bezel-less display. The first generation astonished everybody by achieving 83.6% screen to body ratio. By the time they released Mi Mix 3, it rose up to 86%. The company upgraded the chipset and connectivity in it to come up with Mi Mix 3 5G in February 2019.

Redmi 7A

Redmi 7A is the brand’s entry-level offering with pretty basic features. Launched in May 2019, the phone packs in Snapdragon 439 chipset coupled with up to 3 GB RAM. To recall, it got the August patch two weeks ago.

With the month preparing to bid adieu, Xiaomi decided to deliver the September update for Redmi 7A. Akin to what Mi Mix 5G is getting, this doesn’t also contain any new features. Given the package is currently circulating in China, we can expect the wide rollout in a week or so.

Redmi Note 8 Pro

In comparison with Mi Mix 5G and Redmi 7A, Note 8 Pro is the new kid on the block. It hit the Chinese market this month with a game-centric chipset (MediaTek Helio G90T) inside. We are yet to witness the global release.
