OxygenOS, the hugely popular custom skin designed by OnePlus, recently got a new version upgrade. Crafted on the foundation of Android 10, OxygenOS 10.0 is currently available on both OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro (excluding 5G and carrier models). Upcoming OnePlus 7T series will have it out of the box.

But what about OnePlus 6/6T owners? The Chinese phones maker did initiate Android Q based Developer Preview testing for the one year old flagships, but there is no Android 10 based Open Beta update so far. The last stable channel update, on the other hand, introduced August security patch alongside DC Dimming, Zen Mode and Fnatic mode.

Matter of fact, both OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T received a new set of Pie based Open Beta builds earlier this month. The changelog was rather interesting, as the OEM apparently pushed that OTA solely as a step for the preparation of the upcoming Android 10 software update.

Now it is the time for stable channel. Yes, OnePlus is currently pushing a new set of bugfix updates for OnePlus 6 (OxygenOS 9.0.9) and OnePlus 6T (OxygenOS 9.0.17). Apart from performance improvements, the new software is the key ingredient for the major Android version upgrade in the near future.

Manu J. from OnePlus already made the corresponding update announcement thread public. The complete changelog is as follows:

System

– Fixed the crash issue with Screen Recorder

– Re-activated the calling function after the network has been reset.

– This update will improve the overall system performance to prepare for later versions

Guess what? No September security patch or new features, but some magical sauce for the OxygenOS 10.0 update. The Screen Recorder and telephone fixes are free addons, though.

Judging from the build number, OnePlus compiled them on September 11. Guess they had ample time to integrate the September patches too, but decided to postpone it for the next OTA.
