[Update 2.3.1 with fix rolling out] Harry Potter Wizards Unite crashing, freezing, black screen issue after update 2.3.0 officially acknowledged

There are new updates that have been added at the bottom of this story…

Original story (from August 26) follows:

Niantic released an update 2.3.0 for Harry Potter Wizards Unite two days ago. The latest update has added many new foundables and features to the game. It has also fixed many major bugs, including Dancing with Dummies which was troubling Wizards Unite players for a long time.

However, many Android users are facing an issue of freezing and crashing after updating the game to version number 2.3.0. Players took this issue to Reddit and the official Wizards Unite community website. Have a look at the complaints from different users down below.

Many reports from the forum are suggesting that players who have enabled animated filters in their Ministry ID are facing the issue. Wizards Unite representatives have also addressed this issue on the Reddit forum and Community website.

Hpwu_arcosu, an official moderator from Wizards Unite team, has confirmed that the team is currently investigating the issue and attempting to resolve this issue as quickly as possible. However, many players have suggested a temporary fix for this problem, which has worked for them.

According to them, disabling animated filters, lenses, frames, and stickers in your Ministry ID Portrait will help resolve the issue temporarily. However, the solution suggested above may not work on all Android devices.

We certainly hope Niantic will fix this issue at the earliest, as many players are not able to play the game properly. Since the launch, many bugs have plagued the game, but Niantic kept providing fixes from time to time.

For a quick refresher, Niantic is organizing Wizards Unite fan festival on August 31 and September 01. The festival will take place at White River State Park in Indianapolis. The event will feature special assignments that will unlock Dragon encounters for attendees.

There will be several Special Assignments for the attendees to complete. Also, attendees will need to keep an eye on the Threat Clock and will have to quickly get into action as the bar hits the emergency sign.

Dragon and Acromantula Eggs will also be scattered around the park. Landmark Flags will help players navigate around the park to find nearby Foundables, artefacts, creatures, and plenty more interactive activations.

All the above-mentioned things are only available to attendees, but Niantic has promised that global players will also be able to participate in the fan-festival from the comfort of their home. But details regarding the same will be announced later.

Update 1 (August 27)
