Huawei introduced the sub-brand Honor to come up with budget devices. Though it couldn’t surpass other Chinese manufacturers like Redmi, the brand still has a significant user base.

Just like any other OEM, Huawei (and Honor) has their in-house skin on top of Android that carries the name EMUI. While the OEM recently unveiled the latest software version of EMUI 10 that’s based on Android Q, there are many Huawei/Honor device that are still receiving EMUI 9.1.

As we highlighted today itself, EMUI 9.1 is now making way to Huawei Y9 (2019) units.

Apart from EMUI 9.1, different Huawei/Honor units continue getting firmware updates that bring along new and interesting features. Take for example the Huawei Mate 20 Pro update that introduced DC Dimming to the device.

As of today, another Huawei phone is getting a firmware update that sadly doesn’t bring DC Dimming, but at least adds support for ARK compiler. The device to receive the update is Honor 9X.

Just for reminder, Honor 9X comes with an all screen display with a pop-up camera. The screen measures 6.59-inches in size and 1080 x 2340 pixels in resolution. No AMOLED, though!

Huawei’s own Kirin 810 processor made out of 7 nm manufacturing process powers up the device. A primary 48 MP sensor and a 2 MP depth sensor resides inside the rear dual camera setup. The selfie shooter is a 16 MP motorised pop-up camera.

Now the company has pushed EMUI 9.1.1.126 to the device with some significant features to smoothen the performance. The info comes from an announcement made at the company’s official forum. Following is a translated version of the changelog followed by a user shared image of the same:

As you read, Honor has included the support for ARK compiler. Just in case you don’t know what we are talking about, it is an Android code compiler aimed at speeding up the code execution. Eventually, it will increase the system efficiency by fluently compiling applications.

The new update brings with it some camera refinements to Honor 9x as well. Camera’s photo effects have also been worked on. It’s worth mentioning this patch is currently circulating only to Honor 9X units in the OEM’s home country i.e. China.

In case you haven’t yet received the update in question, keep patience, as firmware updates are usually pushed out in batches. So the OTA notification may pop-up anytime. Happy installing!
