Huawei P30/P30 Pro August security update brings portrait super night view, night self-timer & Gallery video editing
Huawei P30 & P30 Pro, as you may know, are the company’s current year flagships that are fueled with HiSilicon Kirin 980 chipset, and come baked with Android 9.0 with the latest EMUI 9.1 on top. On the other hand, P30’s lighter variant P30 Lite was bumped to EMUI 9.1 just recently.
The update on Huawei P30 Lite integrated the usual EMUI 9.1 goodies – like GPU Turbo 3.0, EROFS support, a revamped UI along with the July security patch. However, the July update was rolled out for the elderly P30/P30 Pro phones a little later in comparison to P30 Lite.
Cut to now. A new update is being pushed by the OEM to both P30 and P30 Pro that bumps the version from 9.1 .0.186 to 188.8.131.52 and carries the latest August security patch. But the major highlights are the new feature addition that have been done.
After the update, devices user will be able to take better pictures at night as portrait super night view for front camera and night self-timer features will be available. Not only that, users will get to personalize videos with the new gallery video editing features.
Also support from HUAWEI X Gentle MonsterEyewear smart glasses has been added for better gaming experience. The fingerprint recognition mechanism has also been worked on. Even the July security update (184.108.40.206) on Huawei P30/P30 Pro included the fingerprint reader optimizations.

Considering the new OTA update is now get-at-able for Huawei P30/P30 Pro users in China, it should soon make way to devices in the other regions too. Needless to say, we’ll be keeping an eye on its arrival in other regions too, and will let you know as and when that happens.
