The clock is ticking! Android Q is almost around the corner and OEMs have sped up Android 9.0 Pie circulation on the left out eligible phones. One such company is Taiwanese manufacturer HTC, which confirmed Android Pie’s advent on HTC U11, U11+ and U12+ one after another.

Living by their word, the OEM released Pie for HTC U11 back in May. Well, the update’s push-n-pull sequence that followed the roll out is hidden from none. Acting upon the situation, the company immediately rolled back the buggy patch (3.22.709.2) and released a new one (3.22.709.3).

Second Android Pie update on HTC U11, as the first one (3.22.709.2) was pulled back due to bugs

After the OEM’s home country, Pie recently arrived even on the European region U11 devices. And now, its time for HTC U11’s pro kin, HTC U11+. For refresher, few months back, the OEM shared that U11+ will get bumped to Pie sometime in the later half of June. However, that never happened.

Please note, certain regions & carrier deployment may affect these dates. U11 rollout will begin late May, 2019; U11+ will begin late June, 2019; U12+ will begin mid-June, 2019.

Cut to now. In August, the phone is finally receiving the much-awaited Pie. HTC U11+ is the Taiwanese OEM’s 2017 high-end phone fueled by Snapdragon 835 SoC. Shipped originally with Android Oreo layered with Sense UI, the phone awaited Android 9.0, which is now hitting the units.

Going by reports, HTC U11+ users in the European (Belgium, Norway, Hungary, and Italy reportedly) and the Indian region are now receiving the update. The update rolling out on the European region units bears build 2.19.401.2, while the one on the Indian units reads 2.19.400.2.

The update brings along the July security patch, and confirms the removal of Google+ from BlinkFeed, as the service has been terminated by Google back in April.

Here’s what the complete changelog (similar to that on HTC U11) reads, followed by some images of the software info and update screen of the patch rolling out in the European region:

This update contains important improvements including:
– Android 9.0 Pie update
– System enhancements
– Remove Google+ from Blinkfeed because Google has shutdown Google+

As is usually the case with firmware updates, they are pushed out in batches, and Pie is no exception. So Android Pie may take time to make it to all HTC U 11+ (or HTC U11 Plus) units. Hang in tight, as you may get to see the update notification anytime now. Happy installing!
