Mornings these days be like, okay let’s check EMUI 9.1 has landed on which Huawei/Honor phones overnight. Well, the OEM is pushing the latest EMUI to their phones so vigorously that we can’t help but highlight as many as we catch sight of. And we are doing pretty good, aren’t we????

After Honor 10 Lite, as of today, incoming are EMUI 9.1 alerts on a couple of Huawei devices – the 2018 nova lineup’s Nova 3 and Nova 3i phones.

EMUI 9.1 on Honor 10 Lite

Nova 3 is a high-end phone fueled by Hisilicon Kirin 970. And Nova 3i (aka Huawei P Smart + 2018) is its mid-range kin powered by Hisilicon Kirin 710. Shipped originally with Android Oreo, both devices received their first major OS update and were bumped to Pie-based EMUI 9.0 this year only.

Cut to now. We are getting reports the Huawei Nova 3 devices in India have been receiving the EMUI 9.1 update since past week. This information comes credits to a couple users on Twitter and the company’s official community.

The update (~4GB) carries build and brings the July security patch along with the usual EMUI 9.1 goodies like GPS Turbo 3.0 & EROFS support. Following are some user shared images:

Coming to Huawei Nova 3i, EMUI 9.1 on Nova 3i was to bring GPU Turbo 3.0 and EROFS, and looks like that’s happening already. The conformation comes from Huawei India itself, which while reverting back to a Nova 3i user said EMUI 9.1 has already started rolling out.

Though we haven’t yet been able to locate many reports from Nova 3i users confirming the rollout, there’s at least one thread posted at Huawei Community which shares the EMUI update build numbers and changelog for the device.

Going by that, EMUI 9.1 update on Nova 3i bears build number, and brings the July security patch. The update also incorporates EROFS, GPU Turbo 3.0 and Huawei Vlog. Here’s what the complete changelog (mentioned in the concerned post) reads:

– Adds the EROFS system function, which improves app speed and fluidity.

-[Huawei Vlog]
– Automatically generates highlight reels, applies effects templates, and creates MVs.

-[GPU Turbo 3.0]
– Huawei’s GPU Turbo 3.0 acceleration technology supports dozens of more games, allowing you to enjoy an improved gaming experience.

-[Simplified settings]
– Simplifies settings and options for easier operation.

– July 2019 Android Security Patch.

We are in a lookout for confirmation regarding these user shared details, but going by what Huawei India shared, EMUI 9.1 is surely live on Nova 3i. Have you received EMUI 9.1 on your Nova 3/3i units yet? How is it acting on your unit? Drop a comment an let us know.

Not to miss, as is usually the case with firmware updates, they’re rolled out in batches, so EMUI 9.1 may also take time to make it to all Nova 3 and 3i devices. So hang in tight!
