Last week, Taiwanese phone manufacturer Asus pushed a new update to ZenFone 5 (ZE620KL) phones to fix a couple of issues along with releasing an updated security patch. The update (16.0615.1905.100) claims to fix missing HD graphics in PUBG and third party app audio issues.

But did the update actually resolve the problems? Well, at least not the missing PUBG HD graphics one. A lot of ZenFone 5 users who installed the latest update have confirmed that PUBG HD graphics are still missing. Here are some of the recent reports from ZenTalk forums:

To Improve HD graphics options in the pubg mobile game is not yet complete, because after I tried reinstalling the game, the hd option is still not open unlike the previous OS oreo.

I have latest update but hd graphıchs not opened to me

All that users reportedly get to see is just the following notification:

It’s worth mentioning the PUBG missing HD graphics problem creeped in on ZenFone 5 devices after installing Android 9.0 Pie update. And sadly, it continues to exist even after the latest patch. FYI a similar issue occurred even on ZenFone Max Pro M1 after Pie update. However, it got fixed recently.

Coming to the latest development on the matter, just yesterday, a ZenTalk forums moderator informed the complainants that PUBG HD/FHD issue is being looked into.

For the problem of “HD” or “FHD” on PUBG, this problem is under investigation.

Apart from missing PUBG HD graphics, after installing the latest update, a lot of ZenFone 5 users have reported audio trouble/distortion while using Poweramp music player app. Here’s how some of the complainants word the problem behavior:

After i update to the latest firmware i experience audio distortion when im using poweramp… What the heck it sounds really terrible…

After updating my phone music player sounds were distorted like when you max bass that the equipment can’t handle it something like that..

What’s good is that this problem also got addressed by the same forums moderator a few hours back. Here’s what they said:

This problem is under processing in a proactive way.

In addition, while the company fixes the issue, here’s a workaround the moderator has asked the affected ZenFone 5 users to try.

Please see below steps for the short-term solution until the fix plan.
Steps: Turn on the Poweramp > menu> settings> audio > advanced tweaks> turn off the option of ” Direct Volume Countrol”.

Here’s hoping the devs fix whatever is causing the PUBG HD graphics missing and Poweramp audio issues. Rest assured, like always, we are keeping a tab and will update the story as and when any new development comes to our sight.
