Recently, we highlighted how Instagram has now started notifying users if someone screenshots their pics in private messages (DMs). Well, the social media service is again in news. This time, we are seeing a very large number of reports that say Instagram is deleting fan accounts.

Take a look at some reports:

There are many user reports saying this is just a wild rumor or FUD, but several others have personally confirmed their account recently got deleted.

Perhaps the biggest causality as of now is a PewDiePie fan account dubbed ‘classicpewds’. Here’s a recent post from Nat – the person behind the account – from her backup account ‘classic.pewds’:

The account had over 100,000 followers (including PewDiePie himself), and now if you try accessing it, you can’t.

A lot of people have come in support of this account, and are trying to get it to PewDiePie’s attention.

PLEASE READ: There was this pewdiepie editing account called classic.pewds but out of no where instagram deleted her account for no reason over 3 years of work 100k+ followers AND PEWDIEPIE FOLLOWED all gone in an instant we need to show this to felix and help her get her account back! from PewdiepieSubmissions

It’ll be interesting to see whether or not PewDiePie comes to rescue of this account. Meanwhile, people are sharing information about Instagram accounts that have been built with the purpose of reporting other accounts, and even managing to get many accounts deleted.

As of now, we couldn’t find any word from Instagram on this. We’ll update the story as and when we receive more information on the matter. Until then, use the comments section below to share your Instagram experience with us.
