YouTube being everyone’s go-to video-streaming channel, boasts 2.6 billion users on a monthly basis as well as 500 hours worth of new material being uploaded every minute.

The platform is far from perfect with YouTube users complaining about bugs such as the autoplay function automatically turning on for some and drag and drop to change videos order not working on the website.

And now it seems that some content creators are experiencing an issue with timestamps not working or disappearing from videos uploaded on YouTube (1,2,3,4,5).

Timestamps are not working on my videos.
Am sure I did everything right and saw a lot of people facing this issue, how can I fix this?

I’ve tried making chapters on like 10 of my videos, and none have worked. I have no copyright strikes, my content isn’t inappropriate, i have 3 chapters and they are atleast 10 seconds, and yet it isnt working. Here is one of the videos i tried adding them.

Hello I have a problem with chapters in my films, they are not visible. I placed timestamps but they do not display on the movie. Everything was fine until one day they disappeared from all the movies.

This issue has been troubling creators for months now, as there have been similar reports dating back towards the end of May. Unfortunately, there’s no acknowledgment from YouTube.

Update 1 (July 26, 2022)

06:27 pm (IST): Multiple reports indicate that some YouTube viewers are also affected by the issue (1, 2, 3, 4). In those cases, they are unable to see the timestamps or chapters in the videos.

Update 2 (September 12, 2022)

05:00 pm (IST): According to one of those affected, the recent issue with YouTube videostamps got automatically resolved.
