New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on January 20, 2023) follows:

YouTube TV, the streaming service that offers live TV, on-demand content, and DVR recordings is a popular choice for users who are keen on watching news and live sports or want a regular dose of entertainment.

With a massive subscriber base, YouTube TV sure is responsible for living up to the demands of its subscribers which sometimes gets haywire because of some bugs and issues.

For instance, we recently highlighted an issue of how YouTube TV’s ‘Live Guide’ scroll was not working for some.

YouTube TV ‘Library’ UI issue

YouTube TV recently received a new update that refreshed some sections of the UI, including the Library and the Live guide.

The update aimed to make the platform more cohesive and user-friendly, however, it seems that the new design has not been met with positive feedback from the community.

Some users reported (1,2,3,4,5,6,7) that the updated Library keeps showing content that they have already watched, making it difficult to find new content.

New library needs mark all as watched
I wouldn’t mind the new format so much if I could long press on a show and an option to Catch Up All would be there… I’m already tired of seeing N episodes to watch only to see that I’ve already watched them all…

The entire layout of the UI for the @YouTubeTV library has changed in the past 8 hours and how you find recordings of shows has changed because of the big library UI update that just rolled out. The @YouTubeTV library UI is completely different. No left side menu, all rearranged.

Others have reported that the Library is now cluttered, difficult to navigate, and appears awful.

Additionally, some users have expressed frustration with the new layout of the Library, stating that it is less intuitive and is not sorted alphabetically or by time, making it difficult to use.

We have the new Library and Live on our Sony TV. At first glance the library changes are really nice.
Only thing I’ve found so far that I don’t like is that under the new library design my recordings for John Wick 1, 2 and 3 are no longer side by side by side as they were under the old library design. It appears the sort has changed and is no longer alphabetical and I do not see a way to change this.

Users have also criticized the YouTube TV team for the lack of communication regarding this new update and are disappointed for the same reason.

Nope and where is the schedule for the roll out? These rollouts are always irritating as you wait for days or weeks reading about others who get it and wondering when you will get it.

It is worth noting that the update has not been fully rolled out to all users yet, and some may not have received it yet.

The Library UI issue has not yet been acknowledged by YouTube TV. However, we hope that based on the current backlash, Google will consider making changes to the new Library design to address these concerns.

Update 1 (June 7, 2023)

06:19 pm (IST): A Community Manager has confirmed that they have taken the user feedback onboard and that changes will be made:

Library Changes: We’ve heard your feedback about Library issues and are working on fixes to address the relevancy of Catch Up on your Favorites, incorrect Watch badging, and ordering of Recently Recorded entries.
