YouTube TV is suitable for those who want little to do with their conventional satellite TVs. The reason this online streaming service gained popularity is that it comes at a low subscription cost and has no contracts.

Subscribers get the freedom to watch any show or live content whenever they want. But this doesn’t make YouTube TV perfect.

For instance, we recently covered how YouTube TV’s Live Guide scroll was not working. It appears that yet another convenience of the service is turning erratic.

YouTube TV 4K Plus add-on

YouTube TV has recently been promoting its 4K Plus add-on, which offers access to 4K content for a monthly fee of $4.99 for 24 months.

However, reports suggest (1,2,3,4,5) that some subscribers are frustrated with the offer and are calling it a scam or pointless.

4K Plus: $6.99 for 24 months. I was looking at my account, and found that YouTube TV is offering the 4K Plus add-on at $6.99 per month for 24 months. Not sure if it’s a targeted offer, but thought I’d share. I haven’t used any prior free trials or discounts for 4K Plus, and I have the T-Mobile monthly discount.

4K add-on is an absolute scam. I have owned YTTV for a couple of years now and added the 4k add-on about a year ago. I was disappointed by the lack of 4k content but assumed it would pick up since it was a new addition. fast forward to now, and i’m sitting here watching a prime time sports event (US open) and it isn’t in 4k. It isn’t even in 1080p, it’s 720p.

One of the main complaints is that there is not enough 4K content available on YouTube TV to justify paying the monthly subscription.

Additionally, many subscribers are unhappy about the fact that the subscription will cost $19.99 per month after the 24-month promo period ends.

Some subscribers have taken to forums to express their frustration, with some calling the 4K Plus add-on an absolute scam and others saying that it is pointless.

Some subscribers have also pointed out that the pricing for the 4K Plus add-on is inconsistent, with some being offered $4.99 per month, while others are offered $6.99 per month or $9.99 per month.

Several YouTube TV subscribers are frustrated with the 4K Plus add-on and do not see the value in subscribing to it.

I got the 4k trial. It seems pointless, there’s like what 5 channels actually in 4k and some shows no one watches?

However, it’s worth noting that YouTube TV has not released a statement about the price variations of the 4K Plus add-on, and whether it’s a promotional strategy or a technical issue, it’s not clear.

If anything, the 4K Plus add-on may not suit everyone, so it’s important for subscribers to weigh the cost and the value they get for their money before subscribing.

It’s also worth keeping an eye on the content being offered in 4K as it will change over time and could potentially justify the additional cost.
