New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on July 6, 2020) follows:

Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 9 Pro continues the company’s trend with the Redmi Note line of phones. Over the years, these devices have been known to pack the very best mid-range specs, nice designs, and a price-tag that is hard to beat.

Redmi Note 9 Pro does not disappoint its predecessors. It packs the Snapdragon 720G processor, 5020mAh battery, 6GB of RAM, 128GB storage, you know, the typical killer mid-range device in 2020. However, all is not well with this device. According to some users, the device has a bug with its camera.

According to affected users, on launching the camera app, the device throws back an error message, “can’t connect to camera”. One quick-fix that seems to be working for some users is to restart the device every time this happens.

Understandably, this issue has caused untold inconvenience to many of the affected users and a number of them have resorted to the Mi Community Forum to air their frustrations.

While responding to a user on the forum, a Device Moderator for the Redmi Note 9 Pro on the Mi Global Community confirms that the company is in-fact, aware of this issue and is working on a fix for the bug that appears to be a little more widespread than initially thought.

Also, the moderator offers the affected users a workaround that should keep the affected users going as they await an upcoming bug fix update for this issue.

Hi,

It’s a known bug and already reported. Kindly wait for a bug fix update.
As a workaround, clearing the cache and data of the camera app should help.

Cheers! 🙂

Redmi Note 9 Pro users can, therefore, only hope that Xiaomi obliges and rolls out a fix to this issue as soon as possible. Given Xiaomi’s pace of development, my guess is that this update will come pretty soon. Until then, clear the cache and data for the camera app if you’re facing this bug on your Redmi Note 9 Pro.

Update 1 (August 1)

According to a tweet from Xiaomi’s General Manager in Indonesia — Alvin Tse, the bugfix for the camera issue on the Redmi Note 9 Pro will come with the next patch. It’s possible that the fix will come along with the MIUI 12 update. See the full story here.
