Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 battery drain issue after recent update being looked into

Xiaomi released MIUI 10.3.5 for the global and European models of Redmi Note 7 in April-end, while the same for the Indian variants was delayed. Then a few weeks later, the OEM pushed MIUI 10.3.5 with features like Dark mode, Hide notch and app Face unlock to the Indian models as well.

To quickly refresh, until this particular patch, the Indian variants were receiving updates under 10.2.x branch, while the global and European variants received updates under 10.3.x branch. But things changed with this firmware update. Now even India devices will be updated under the same branch.

But since MIUI 10.3.5 has landed, Redmi Note 7 users have been complaining across different online discussion platforms about battery drain problem. We understand that new updates often take some days to settle on a device. But battery drainage even after weeks of rollout turns out to be concerning.

At Mi Community, a user recently said:

After 10.2 updates, my battery got worst, they said it will be fixed on the next update,( which im presently using), still not fixed on 10.3 update.

While reverting back to this user, a device team member told them the issue has already been addressed in the last update and suggested them to perform battery recalibration.

It is solved in last update, please try to perform battery recalibration process and then check

However, a few days later, when another Redmi Note 7 user complained of battery drain even after two weeks of installation and shared their phone’s usage after calibrating, the same device team member told them the problem has been highlighted and will be resolved with a future update.

Looks like, battery drain after MIUI 10.3.5 is troubling many Redmi Note 7 users because of which the devs are reconsidering the issue. Here’s hoping they do the needful to resolve the problem soon.
