Android 12 has been under development for a while now. With proper leaks first making an appearance earlier this year, the update can now be installed on the Google Pixels as part of the beta program and as barebones AOSP builds on a variety of other devices from partaking OEMs.

One of these OEMs is Xiaomi which has not only joined the beta program but has included the most number of devices for any non-Google vendor. The list goes – Mi 11 Ultra, Mi 11 Pro, Mi 11, and Mi 11i.

However, Android 12 beta builds for these phones are aimed at developers who wish to test and adapt their apps for the new OS. As such, they are pure AOSP and have nothing to do with MIUI.

But that doesn’t mean that Xiaomi isn’t busy with the development of their next MIUI version based on Android 12. We highlighted last month how Android 12-based MIUI builds had started for the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra/Pro.

And now, as per a new report, several more devices from the flagship Mi 10 series have been taken up by Xiaomi for Android 12-based testing.

These devices are:

Xiaomi Mi 10
Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro
Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra
Xiaomi Mi 10T/10T Pro/Redmi K30S Ultra

Considering that Xiaomi is known for limiting all of the bleeding edge stuff to Chinese variants of Xiaomi and Poco devices initially, it is quite obvious that the Mi 10 series Android 12 testing is again being conducted in China only.

Not much info has really been given out with the report but one can certainly not expect any download links at this stage. It is highly likely that the beta testing is internal.

Still, it is safe to assume that the testing in question involves MIUI 13 as well since we have had plenty of leaks and rumors in the past that point to the unveiling of the next big MIUI upgrade as early as next month.

For the uninitiated, MIUI 13 will likely be a major update and is expected to bring new system icons, home screen widgets, updated app interfaces, performance modes, and more.

While it will still take quite a while for both MIUI 13 and Android 12 to make it to eligible Xiaomi and Poco devices, you can always keep an eye on our dedicated tracker for the same.
