Windows 11 Quick Settings & Notification panels stay on top of Taskbar with auto-hide enabled & it's annoying, users demand fix

Released in October last year, Windows 11 is the latest operating system developed by Microsoft.

While it is available as a free upgrade for Windows 10 users, those with older generation hardware might not be able to update thanks to Microsoft’s strict hardware requirements.

But some of those eligible to upgrade their systems to Windows 11 are choosing to stay on Windows 10 because of bugs such as File Explorer (explorer.exe) crashing on right click and Task Manager crashing when the Performance tab is clicked.

Adding to the problems, many Windows 11 users are now complaining that Quick Settings and Notification panels stay on top of the Taskbar when auto-hide is enabled.

As it turns out, users were facing the same issue some months ago but it was fixed in Windows 11 Build 22567. But recent reports suggest otherwise.

The UI glitch prevents users from using the taskbar icons on the right side.

Apparently, the problem has resurfaced with Build 22621. You can see in the image below what the problem looks like.

I’m guessing the issue the OP is having is that it’s getting stuck? It is a visual bug too though. It should hover above the taskbar just like normal when the taskbar isn’t set to auto-hide.

Well, yes, but if you want to switch from quick settings to notification center, you have to click outside of that box (and by doing so, you make taskbar hide), then you have to go down and click on date&time. It’s a minor issue, but still a bug. It was fixed in 22581 (beta channel), but returned in 22621.

Windows 11 users are seemingly frustrated and asking developers to fix the issue where Quick Settings and Notification panels stay on top of the taskbar with auto-hide enabled.

While some have reported the issue on Windows Feedback Hub, there is still no official word on the matter. We hope Microsoft developers find out the root cause of the problem and fix it once and for all.
