Back in 2015, Microsoft announced under the leadership of Satya Nadella that Windows 10 will be the last major version of Windows. But they contradicted their own claim in October of 2021 with the release of Windows 11.

Even though Windows 11 vastly improves upon Windows 10 in terms of design language and consistencies, the operating system hasn’t been embraced by many.

While some say that the software feels unfinished, others say that they are unable to upgrade due to Microsoft’s hardware limitations set by the company.

Similar to how the tech giant allows users to gain access to Windows 10 Beta builds via the Insider program, Windows 11 also has an Insider Program that lets users test the newest features coming to the OS.

Having said that, Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22538 users are now reporting that the Task Manager crashes whenever they click on the Performance Tab.

Never had an issue with the task manager before this update (well, I had some issues, but I doubt they fixed them), but this build not only reset my task manager’s layout (changes in the details tab and processes tab), no, now it also crashes when viewing the performance tab. Come on.

The bug seems to be making it impossible for users to check performance metrics using the Task Manager. It is still unclear at this point if the issue has something to do with the revamped Task Manager that comes with a fluent design.

In case you are unaware, Microsoft has apparently updated the Task Manager with a new UI that completely blends in with the updated Windows 11 user interface.

Many say that the new Task Manager is pretty unresponsive at this point, and that’s not surprising at all since it’s still being tested internally.

Thankfully, a Microsoft Software Engineer commented on the matter in a Reddit thread and said that they are aware of the Task Manager crashes when clicking on the Performance tab issue and are working on a fix.

However, there is no timeframe on when the fix will be out. We hope the developers fix the issue as soon as possible since the Task Manager performance tab is used by many to monitor their resource usage.

Rest assured, we will be keeping an eye out for more information and update this space as and when required.
