Earlier this year, we saw Vivo commencing the Beta testing program for the Android 11 update for a bunch of its devices including a number of its Y-Series of devices.

Since then, we’ve seen some decent progress from the company with regards to Android 11 as more and more devices continue to bag these updates. You can check out our Vivo Android 11 tracker for more on this.

VIVO-Y15

The Vivo Y15 was first unveiled way back in March of 2019 and it ran Android 9 Pie with the company’s own Funtouch OS 9 on top. Since then, the device has bagged an update to Android 10.

The device remains in line for an update to Android 11-based Funtouch OS 11 as it is part of the list of Vivo’s eligible devices.

Well, new reports now suggest that the official release could be right around the corner. This, as alleged grayscale builds of Funtouch OS 11 (Android 11) running on Vivo Y15 have surfaced.

This build which bear software version rev 6.11.0 weighs in at just under 4GB and brings to the Y15 all the Android 11 goodness, skinned with Funtouch OS 11.

See, Vivo often runs these soak tests before rolling out stable releases to the masses. These grayscale builds are often pushed out to a limited number of users to ensure there aren’t any major bugs.

It remains unclear when exactly Vivo will push out this update to the masses but if history is anything to go by, it shouldn’t be more than a few weeks.

For now though, users of the Vivo Y15 who are eager to sink their teeth into this new version of Android with all the features baked into Funtouch OS 11 might have to exercise patience.

We shall continue to keep an eye on this and update as and when we get more info so stay tuned to PiunikaWeb.
