New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on January 7, 2022) follows:

Twitter is one of the most popular microblogging platforms on the internet. With more than 206 million daily active users, the platform generated a revenue of $3.7 billion in the year 2020.

It allows users to share their thoughts in the form of short messages called Tweets. Like Facebook status, people can share, comment, and reply to these Tweets.

But as is the case with every online service, Twitter users do experience some bugs and issues.

That being said, recently some Twitter users complained about the app logging them out randomly and their drafts disappearing. As it turns out, they are not the only problems users are facing.

Twitter blank home page after doing a search

Many are now saying that they are unable to see their timeline (1,2,3,4,5) whenever they use the search function. It looks like the Twitter home page is blank whenever users search for something.

Some say they tried reinstalling the app and clearing cache but the issue persists nonetheless.

I’m running Twitter on Android. There are some performance issues (heyoooooo) recently, hanging search screen, failing up refresh timeline. But notifications are really patchy coming through.

I am not sure about the latest changes/update with #Twitter #Android. Seems things get stuck on the search functionality. (Then home TL is not loading). Or is it just me? #TwitterBugs @TwitterDev

Twitter missing notifications

Twitter users also say that they are not missing some reply notifications (1,2,3,4,5) . However, reports suggest that they are visible in the Mentions tab, but they are not there in all notifications.

This is a really serious issue since many users rely on these reply Twitter notifications to stay updated. Here is what some complainants had to say.

Sorry if this is a repost. I would like to activate the notification everytime someone replies to my post/comment to a post. I have enabled any kind of notification but nothing happens. Everytime I have to go to my profile page and search manually the posts I’ve commented to see if someone replied to me. Is there a way to fix this? Thank you.

This is probably a common occurrence but my notifications for Tweets are no longer working. I’ve tried absolutely everything like clear the cache, redownloading the app, offloading it but nothing has worked. All the other types of notifications work perfectly fine, its just the Tweet notifications that aren’t working.

But with Twitter yet to acknowledge the blank home page and missing reply notifications issues, it is still unclear when they will be fixed.

Many say that the issues surfaced after a recent app update, but we cannot say anything for sure. Rest assured, when Twitter acknowledges or fixes these issues, we will let you know so stay tuned.

Update 1 (March 1, 2023)

04:12 pm (IST): Some users are again reporting that they are getting blank homepage or their feed is showing ‘Welcome to Twitter!’ error message.

This apparently started happening after Twitter was struck by an outage in several parts of the world.

Update 2 (March 2, 2023)

06:31 pm (IST): The recent issue where users were getting blank homepage should now be fixed as we haven’t come across any widespread reports regarding the same.

Update 3 (Dec 21, 2023)

Twitter search seems to be broken again as of IST 11:30am. We tested both on mobile and desktop, the search queries aren’t returning any results. It could be a temporary glitch that may get resolved soon. Meanwhile, do leave your thoughts and experiences in the comments section at the bottom.
