Twitter Android app minute timestamp now showing capital M, issue acknowledged

Twitter is one of the largest social media networks on the planet. Founded by Jack Dorsey in 2006, the microblogging platform lets users share their thoughts in the form of short messages called ‘Tweets’.

While Tweets are publicly visible by default, users have the option to restrict them to their followers. The platform has more than 206 million monetizable daily active users with the majority based in the United States and Japan.

A few days ago, users criticized the developers for forcing a TikTok style ‘For you’ search UI, demanding that they undo the changes.

And now, Twitter users on Android are reporting that the minute timestamp is showing capital M instead of small m. Many are frustrated and saying they are reading it as million or months instead of minutes.

Below are some reports from Twitter app users on Android who are troubled by the minute timestamp showing capital M.

Why on earth are minute depicted in capital letters “M” like 2M and hours in small letters “h” like 2h in my timeline? To me, 2M means two million and not two minutes (2m or 2min) in relation to a timeline. @TwitterSupport @Twitter

It is interesting to note that the hours and seconds timestamps still remain uncapitalized, suggesting that the minute timestamp change might be unintentional.

Thankfully, Twitter Support has shed some light on the matter and said they are aware of the bug and that it is currently under investigation. However, there is no ETA on when it will be fixed.

We hope Twitter soon reverts the changes made to the minute timestamp since it is causing inconvenience to those using the Android app.
