Following the introduction of Meta’s Twitter alternative, Threads app, a significant number of Twitter users have shown interest in switching platforms.

However, it seems that Elon Musk is making efforts to entice users back to Twitter with Creator Ads Revenue Sharing Program. It provides an opportunity for creators to monetize their presence on the platform.

As per the program, creators receive a share of the ad revenue generated from their tweets. For more information, head here.

How Twitter ad revenue sharing program works

Having said that, soon after the announcement of the program, many creators were surprised to receive large sums of money.

For instance, one account received an impressive $37,000. Similarly, popular YouTuber Mr. Beast has received $25,000.

However, users should know that these are the cumulative amounts from the time Elon Musk initially announced the program back in February. Therefore, the monthly earnings may not be as high as the initial sum received.

It’s worth noting that Twitter won’t provide revenue based on number of impressions. The primary factor determining earnings is the number of ads shown to other verified (Twitter Blue) users in the replies section.

It’s not exactly per impression. What matters is how many ads were shown to other verified users. Only verified users count, as it is otherwise trivial to game the system with bots. (Source)

Elon Musk said that this approach helps prevent bots from gaming the system and ensures that genuine engagement drives ad revenue.

How to check if you are eligible

Here’s how you can become eligible for Twitter’s monetization program:

As per the announcement, users will be able to apply for this program though monetization section on the app once Twitter launch the application process.

Moreover, a Twitter representative has confirmed that they have plans to expand the Creator Ads Revenue Sharing program in future.

Excited to start sending our first payments to creators for ads revenue sharing today. Creators are the lifeblood of this platform, and it’s great to see so many creators I follow getting paid today. The program will be expanding soon—more to come! (Source)

While specific details are yet to be revealed, this indicates that more creators will have the opportunity to participate and benefit from ad revenue sharing.
