New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on April 5, 2021) follows:

OnePlus recently took the wraps off of its latest 2021 flagships, the OnePlus 9 series of devices. These premium units ditch the bank for buck mantra as they step up to the big dogs in the industry.

The OnePlus 9 Pro, the beefiest of the bunch comes with all the bells and whistles you’d expect from a 2021 flagship with a Hasselblad tuned camera to spice things up.

The devices are still pretty new and users are just now beginning to take delivery of their flashy new units.

To recall, we already saw the OnePlus 9 devices getting their first FOTA update even before they started shipping out to owners.

While that update mainly focused on camera improvements, it is now coming to light that the OnePlus 9 Pro has a much more dire issue.

According to new owners of the device, the OnePlus 9 Pro has an inherent overheating issue. This seems to be manifested not only when charging but also during normal usage and when on standby.

The phone is overheating a lot, also while charging it’s extremely hot. Just while using the phone casually the phone is uncomfortable to hold. The OVER heating issue Is present in the device and it needs to be resolved quickly or it might be effecting the phone.

I received my brand new OnePlus 9 Pro 12+256 today, from the beginning till now the phone is hot I killed all the applications and even when a single application is running it’s hot, I’m unsure if this is because of a software or a hardware issue My old OnePlus 6 is completely fine in regular tasks but this is getting hot for very basic tasks like even making a call.

To have a brand new device exhibit such behavior without any apps installed is disturbing to say the least.

Luckily though, OnePlus has heard the complaints of these users and as such, has acknowledged this issue, noting that its developer team is currently working on it.

We have made a note of this and our developer team is currently working on this. We will keep you posted regarding the further updates. We appreciate your support and patience in this regard.
