A few months ago, we reported about an issue where some Asus ROG Phone 5 and 5s owners were unable to use Wi-Fi and hotspot on their mobile devices after a system update and had to get the motherboard replaced.

This time, some are experiencing an issue where the phones become dead or bricked on random occasions and never turn back on.

Another ROG Phone 5 owner witnessed a similar crash and claims that they are unable to switch on their mobile.

Even though they tried turning on their smartphone using different key combinations and also tried charging the mobile, nothing worked for them.

Some also claim that the phones overheat, and the battery also depletes too fast.

Some say that the issue popped up after installing a new software update, but it’s hard to pinpoint the exact firmware version that triggered the issue since it’s been around for a while.

In fact, some allege that even the replacement units fail, so it looks more like a bigger hardware issue than just a simple motherboard fault or software glitch for that matter.

Some owners are beginning to regret their decision to buy the ASUS ROG Phone 5/5s, with others even demanding a full refund.

As of now, visiting the service center and getting the smartphone repaired or replaced seems to be the only feasible solution. But it is worth mentioning that if your device is out of warranty, then it may cost you a hefty sum of money.

Also, the replacement or repair process is quite time-consuming as well, so it is advised that you keep another phone ready for further use until the process is complete.

That said, we’ll keep tabs on the issue with some dead or crashing Asus ROG Phone 5 and 5s phones and update this article as and when something noteworthy comes up.
