Original story (published on February 03, 2023) follows:

The Sims 4 arrived in 2014 as the latest installment in the highly successful ‘life simulation’ franchise. EA has made it one of the longest running games through multiple expansions and updates.

The gaming community has already reported some bugs or issues in the past. For instance, we have covered the ‘Script call failed‘ error, the ‘Gallery’ down or not working, among others.

Recently, The Sims 4 got a new update, but it seems to be causing constant crashing issues on PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

The latest Sims 4 update on consoles brought a constant crashing issue

The Sims 4 latest update (on consoles) is v1.69, which was intended to bring multiple new gameplay elements. But it seems it also brought the unexpected crashing issue on both Xbox and PlayStation.

Some reports describe situations like multiple random crashes every few minutes. The problem is making the game unplayable in its current state.

Xbox series s. Crashing a lot since the recent update.

My game has crashed 5 times since the recent patch but today it crashed 3 times in the span of about 5 minutes, yes I counted. I turned off my game after that because 3 times so quickly just made it unplayable.

There also doesn’t seem to be a workaround that helps mitigate the constant crashing in The Sims 4. We will be monitoring the situation to update this story as events unfold.

Update 1 (February 6, 2023)

12:37 pm (IST): There is temporary workaround that reportedly has helped fix the issue for some:

  • Clear cache – quick clear.
  • Turn off console
  • Disconnect power
  • Press power button 4 times (to get rid of any residual power)
  • Wait 30 seconds
  • Reconnect power

    Update 2 (February 7, 2023)

12:15 pm (IST): It has been over 4 days since the issue was acknowledged and the developers are still working on a fix. Players are getting impatient (1,2,3) and are now asking for an ETA.
