Redmi Note 6 Pro, i.e. Xiaomi’s grand plan to introduce the notched design in Redmi Note lineup, holds some interesting feathers in its cap. Despite the device is virtually identical to Redmi Note 5 Pro (also known as Redmi Note 5 in China), Xiaomi did not release it in Mainland China.

Besides the extremely small shelf life, Redmi Note 6 Pro also comes without any kind of Anti-rollback Protection (ARB). Given that Xiaomi actually introduced the whole ARB thing with the immediate predecessor of this phone, we really can not justify the reason(s) behind this stance.

On the other hand, the stable Pie update for Redmi Note 6 Pro came after a long “suspension and re-release” drama. Afterwards, the phone received June security patches at the end of last month along with customizable lock screen clock and various fixes.

FYI, Redmi Note 5 Pro got August patches a few weeks ago. Due to the similarities between these two phones, it’s just a matter of time for the younger sibling to get the same treatment. In fact, some Redmi Note 6 units have already started to receive a new incremental OTA of 389 MB.

The complete changelog of the MIUI 10.3.6.0 update for Redmi Note 6 Pro is as follows:

System

– Optimization: Lock screen pocket mode

– Optimization: Updated Android Security Patch to August 2019. Increased system security.

App lock

– New: Locking Google contacts is available now

Lockscreen, status bar, Notification shade

– Fix: Screen didn’t always light up for notifications

Game speed booster

– Fix: Hands-free call duration wasn’t displayed correctly in Game Turbo

Have you noticed one thing? Both the fifth and sixth iteration of Redmi Note phones skipped some months in terms of security patches. While Note 5 Pro jumped from May to August, Note 6 Pro bypassed July while getting the most up-to-date patchset.

We know the frustration while waiting for updates. That’s why we post the full update package in collaboration with yshalsager and the Xiaomi Firmware Updater project, so that you can easily deal with it without breaking a sweat.
