Xiaomi releases weekly MIUI Beta updates to participating devices in China. This used to be the case for the global ROM as well, but the latter’s beta program was scrapped.

The latest release came about on June 11 carrying MIUI 12 beta version 20.6.11. As part of the update, eligible devices will be upgraded with a bunch of new camera functions.

The update also brings a bunch of optimizations, bug fixes, and performance improvements to various devices. Below is a summary of the changes included in MIUI 12 beta 20.6.11.

Control Center:
1. New: Added big card clickable animation.

Lock Screen:
1. Optimized the hadlo effect of fingerprint spot.

Camera:
1. Added support for custom watermarking of camera photos[Redmi Note 7 Pro].
2. Added full-screen frame ratio[Mi 9 Pro 5G, Mi 9].
3. New Camera green, orange and black ice filters.
4. New photo long-exposure function one key to complete shoot in 6 modes: crowds, neon lights, flowing clouds, creative light paintings, bright starry sky, star trails[Mi 10, Mi 10 Pro, Redmi K30 Pro].
5. Newly added camera AI watermark, supports recognition of camera scenes for intelligent recommendation[Mi 10, Mi 10 Pro, Redmi K30 Pro].
6. Optimized photo storage size in document mode.

Setup:
1. Fix the problem that the Video ToolBox cant be launched sometimes.

Unfortunately, these changes have nothing to do with owners of the high-end Redmi K30 Pro, Xiaomi Mi 10, and Mi 10 Pro. These three, according to Xiaomi, will not receive MIUI 12 beta updates for three weeks, excluding the latest rollout.

Here is what Xiaomi says about the suspended MIUI 12 updates for Mi 10, Mi 10 Pro and Redmi K30 Pro handsets:

In order to improve the communication performance and stability of the mobile phone, we will upgrade the Qualcomm baseline. Update [MIUI 12 beta] is suspended for Mi 10, Mi 10 Pro, Redmi K30 Pro. It is expected to resume in three weeks. This upgrade does not affect the stable version.

Although the trio will not receive MIUI beta updates for three weeks, this will not affect the rollout of the stable version. But what remains unclear is whether the Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro will receive MIUI 12 update globally during this time to match their Chinese counterparts.

MIUI Beta for Mi 8 series, MIX 2S, MIX 3, & Max 3 ends on Sep. 25

As part of the MIUI 12 beta 20.6.11 release notes, Xiaomi also points out that the Mi 8, Mi 8 UD, Mi 8 Transparent Edition, Mi 8 SE, Mi 8 Lite, Mi Mix 2S, Mi Max 3, and Mi Mix 3 will stop receiving MIUI beta updates as from September 25, 2020.

From September 25th, 2020: MIUI China Beta ROM development will be stopped for these devices:- Mi 8, Mi 8 UD, Mi 8 Transparent edition, Mi 8SE, Mi 8 Lite, Mi Mix 2S, Mi Max 3, Mi Mix 3.

This comes after the company had previously revealed that the Mi 6, Redmi Note 5, Mi 6X, Mi Note 3, and Mi Mix 2 will no longer receive MIUI beta updates from June 20.

Update (July 6, 2020)

In a new set of release notes published as part of MIUI 12 beta 20.7.2 for the China ROM, Xiaomi now says the Mi 8 series, MIX 2S, MIX 3, and Mi Max 3 will stop receiving MIUI beta updates on September 5 and not September 25 as earlier revealed. See the full details here.
