While Google has been gradually rolling out the revamped Quick Share feature to Pixel phones, some users might be surprised to find it lacking certain functions present in its Samsung counterpart. For instance, Quick Share on Google Pixel and other non-Galaxy devices currently doesn’t offer options for temporary link sharing or encrypted file transfers, features enjoyed by Samsung users.
However, a welcome addition to Quick Share on Google Pixel and other non-Galaxy phones is the direct integration with the Android share sheet. This means nearby devices compatible with Quick Share (reportedly limited to your own for now) will automatically show up as sharing targets in the share sheet without needing to open the full Quick Share interface. This integration represents a significant step towards seamless file sharing within your device ecosystem. Google has been experimenting with this concept since last year via Nearby Share, so its launch alongside Quick Share marks its wider availability.
Initial reports suggest the feature is functional on certain devices like Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 7 Pro, and even OnePlus 11. However, some users haven’t seen Quick Share targets appear in their share sheets. This inconsistency might indicate a server-side flag independent of the main Quick Share rollout. So, Pixel users, keep an eye out for the convenient addition of Quick Share devices directly within your Android share sheet.
Notably, none of our Pixel devices has picked up the new Quick Share update. Heck, the update hasn’t even popped up on any of our non-Pixel devices either, so don’t fret if you’re still seeing Nearby Share on your Android phone.
