New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

OnePlus and Realme share a lot of things in common: both of them started as an independent offshoot of OPPO and gently built their own user base and separate brand identity. While the former only used ColorOS for their first phone in China, Realme phones are still powered by the OPPO made skin.

For their global customers, OnePlus authored OxygenOS, which is widely praised for its close-to-stock appearance along with numerous useful features. Realme is secretly working on a similar project – at least the recent rumors say so.

Matter of fact, Realme India CEO Madhav Sheth actually hinted about the development of the so-called ‘Realme OS’ back in May. The guessing games got more fuel, when the Chinese OEM announced the mysterious ‘Project X’ beta initiative for Realme 3 Pro.

FYI, the Snapdragon 710 powered Realme 3 Pro is a candidate of Android Q public beta testing. Based on this fact, many users projected the ‘Project X’ as the alpha build of ColorOS skinned Android Q. Due to NDA, we couldn’t get any further info regarding the obscure evaluation.

However, a fresh set of pictures have recently surfaced on the interweb that are allegedly related to the Project X for Realme 3 Pro. Based on the screenshots, the company is indeed bringing Android Q for the mid-ranger phone.

There is no way to judge the authenticity of the screenshots, so take them with a pinch of salt. The build identifier is rather interesting – RMX1851 is the internal model number of Realme 3 Pro, but the ROS.1.0 part is something new. Are we looking at the first glimpse of Realme OS?

Moreover, the changelog mentions Android Q with August security patchset. Xiaomi did rollout the first Android Q build for Mi 9 and Redmi K20 Pro with September patches a few days ago, so that part is kinda obvious. A system wide dark mode apparently exists as well, which was hinted earlier.

Realme also made a number of visual overhauls to the notification center by tweaking the stock iconset and adding numerous small fixes. I’m not sure what else you can guess from the blurred screenshot but the rounded theme is pretty obvious out there.

Judging from the conversations within various regional groups and forums, both Indian and Indonesian Realme 3 Pro owners are allegedly getting the test build under Project X. We are trying to validate the leaked info, so stay tuned for further coverage on this topic from us.
