Pokémon Go, the immensely popular augmented reality (AR) game developed by Niantic, has been entertaining players since its release in 2016.
The game continues to evolve and introduce new features to its dedicated player base. The latest addition comes in the form of PokéStop Showcases, a competition where trainers pit their Pokémon against each other.
However, just like various bugs and issues (1,2,3) that creep up every now and then, trainers are now reporting a bug where they are unable to switch Pokemon out from a PokeStop Showcase.
Pokemon Go ‘Unable to switch Showcase Pokemon’ bug
According to reports, players find themselves unable to swap out the Pokemon they entered into the Showcase anytime they attempt to do so (1,2,3,4,5,6).
cant switch showcase pokémon?i clicked on the button to swap the squirtle i have in a showcase to another one and it never actually changes 🙁 is there anything i can do to fix it? i tried closing the game and no difference

So @NianticHelp why am I still capped at only being able to be in 3 showcases? And why am I STILL unable to remotely switch out if I find a better pokemon to enter at a showcase I’m already.

As per the rules, players are only allowed to enter three Showcases at once. And if a trainer wants to access the fourth one, they must remove a Pokémon from one of their three Showcases they are currently in.
But some are complaining that right after reaching the contest limit (entering the third PokeStop Showcase), they don’t get the option to switch their Pokemon (1,2,3).
For avid Pokemon Go players who enjoy showcasing their biggest or beloved Pokemon, this bug has been a source of disappointment.
A known issue
The Niantic support team on Twitter has officially acknowledged this issue. According to them, the bug should be resolved with an upcoming update (0.277.0).
Moreover, the problem has also been added to the ‘Known Issues’ list. However, there is currently no workaround for the same.
We hope that the developers look into the reports and come up with a resolution at the earliest.
We’ll keep tabs on this matter and update this article to reflect the latest information.
